Book Your ExperienceMumbai Food Tour - 178 Years of Bombay on a Plate
Kicking off from Fort, the colonial heart of Mumbai, this food tour takes you through the oldest kitchens in the city. The Parsis, the Iranis, the South Indians all passed through these lanes across centuries and left their food behind. Most of it is still here, being made the same way, at the same addresses, by the people whose families never left.
Over twelve tastings you will eat through recipes that have survived not just years but generations. Food that has outlasted empires, independence, and the city's own reinventions. This is not a tour built around what looks good. It is built around what has lasted.

Why This Food Tour Is Different
Three hours. Twelve tastings. Every single one of them cooked the same way it was when this city was still called Bombay.
Most food tours in Mumbai take you to the same handful of spots that show up on every list. This one does not. Every kitchen on this walk was chosen because it has survived on the strength of its food alone. The person serving you is the third or fourth generation of the family that started it. The recipe has not been updated because there is no reason to update something that works.
These are not places that were built for tourists. They were built for the neighbourhood — for the lawyers and mill workers and office clerks who have been eating here every morning for generations. You are eating what Fort actually eats. That is the difference.

Yes, when you know where to go. The key is choosing eateries over random street stalls. Scene Syndicate takes you to establishments that have served Mumbai for 90+ years, places with generations of trust, not tourist traps. We have spent 20+ years exploring these lanes and know exactly which spots maintain the highest hygiene standards. You’ll taste authentic Mumbai flavours at places locals have trusted for decades, including some with no Google reviews or TripAdvisor listings, just word-of-mouth reputation built over generations.
Fort Mumbai is where the city was born. The area takes its name from Fort George, the original British East India Company settlement established in the 1600s. What began as a small trading post transformed into the commercial heart of India. Today, walking through Fort is like flipping through chapters of history
Fort Untold features 6+ meaningful tastings at heritage eateries, each with a story. You’ll try recipes dating back to 1808, ice cream from a 90+ year-old establishment, and dishes served in places that don’t appear on Google Maps or TripAdvisor. Unlike tours that rush you through 15 stops, we focus on depth over quantity. Every bite has context, the history of the family that runs the place, why this particular recipe survived generations, and what it tells you about Mumbai’s food culture. You’ll leave satisfied, not stuffed, and with stories worth sharing.
